So still no job. No interviews. Nothing. It’s officially the holidays so I guess I can “officially” give up on getting a job this year. Maybe next year, huh? And I haven’t heard back from my standing temp job so I may not be working the Christmas holiday. That’s just great.
So this past weekend I took the test to be a Census taker. Yup, apparently it’s census time again. A friend of mine gave me the info and I signed up for the test:

I took the practice test twice and felt reasonably confident that I would ace the test. I was told to arrive 30 mins early, and the test is only 30 mins long, but the proctor had to check everyone’s paperwork individually, so all told I was there for about an hour 1/2*. Not so terrible. I brought my glittery sparkly #2 pencils (they’re so pretty!) and they shed glitter on my test and answer book as I wrote. I felt like Elle Woods and her pink scented résumé. Glitter pencils give it something extra, don’t you think? The only prob was I was asked if I owe any federal money. Since that horrible attorney and my former landlords bilked me for $35k, the IRS believes I owe them $17,000k (+$2k late fees!) so I had to list that even though I’m fighting it. Hope that doesn’t hurt my chances! Nightmare. Anyway, I can expect a call if I made it sometime between Jan and Mar of next year. Lovely. Anyway, check it out if you are completely desperate for work as I am.
*Print and fill out your paperwork beforehand. There will be LOTS of people who didn’t, so bring some reading materials.
